ANARCHO PUNK CD SERIES ON OVERGROUND RECORDS
Described by Jeremy Leveller as “A right punk rock blast from the past. Loads of rare stuff & demos from all the Anarcho favourites & others. Still plenty of relevance here! Hardcore”.
This series, over two years in the making, traces the Anarcho punk scene from the late seventies to late eighties and brings together all the bands that The Levellers grew up with, and a host of others who would spawn the Folk-punk/Traveller/Free festival scene.
The series is already being hailed by reviewers and listeners alike as the most important punk re-issue series for years. This series is an aural historical document of an integral, important and hugely influential part of UK punk scene that has, until now, been largely written out of history.
The albums so far released: ‘Anti-War’ and ‘Anti-State’ have been pain-stakingly compiled from over 1500 recordings from vinyl, demo cassettes, unreleased studio recordings and live gigs from the period before settling on the tracks, 50% of which are previously unreleased.
The series includes Zounds, Flux Of Pink Indians, Chumbawamba, Poison Girls, The Mob, Amebix, Civilised Society, Subhumans, Blyth Power, Dirt, Rubella Ballet, Decadence Within, The System, Omega Tribe, Anti-System, Anthrax, Decadence Within and many many more.
The chunky 24-page accompanying booklets contain detailed biographies and many unseen photos on each band.
