Rock’n’Reel magazine relaunches
We are very pleased to let you know that Rock’n’Reel is back. Starting from December, 2006, the magazine will be published on a bi-monthly basis. Six times a year, we will again cover all the best and cutting-edge in roots, rock, blues and beyond, with a full-time staff and publisher providing the magazine with a new and solid foundation from which we aim to reach music fans across the country and around the world.
The magazine will feature full colour throughout, with reader-friendly layouts (having taken on board reader comments regarding text size in our past editions). The review section will be divided into categories of musical style, allowing readers to locate their favourites in a more satisfying and straightforward way. The old writing team is back, alongside editor Sean McGhee, and everyone is delighted – and excited – to be working on the magazine once more, and promising lots of exclusives, great interviews and fascinating features. Those of you previously won over by our wide-ranging music coverage will of course know that we are somewhat unique in our approach to music coverage.
The first issue of the relaunched Rock’n’Reel includes interviews with Shane MacGowan, Donovan, Paul Rodgers, Flogging Molly, Christy Moore, Jacqui McShee, Arlo Guthrie, Andy Roberts, Dick Gaughan, Legendary Shack Shakers, James Yorkston, Spiers & Boden, Joe Brown, and features on Bob Dylan, Marc Bolan, Nick Drake, Arthur Lee and Syd Barrett … plus all the usual CD, live, DVD, book reviews and news.
What’s more, there’s a FREE cover-mounted (album-length) CD, Un-herd Volume 1 (which includes music by Canned Heat, Ani DiFranco, Steve Hackett, Eleanor McEvoy, Paul Lamb and The King Snakes, Colin Scot, Heartless Bastards, Die Hunns, Luke Doucet, Denison Witmer and more). As if such generosity wasn’t enough, there will be a further free CD in the Un-herd series affixed to the cover of each subsequent issue of Rock’n’Reel, offering readers an aurally-titillating mix of intriguing sounds, old and new, many of which readers will undoubtedly be hearing for the first time via our splendid CD collections.
Rock’n’Reel will be available in HMV, Virgin and independent record stores, and in W H Smith stores and selected newsagents. You can also buy copies and/or subscribe on-line at www.rock-n-reel.co.uk
We are also offering FIVE (yes, five) FREE CDs to all new subscribers. Details online.
Alternatively, you can order copies by mail from: Rock’n’Reel, Derw Mill North, Pentrecwrt, Llandysul, Carmarthenshire, SA44 5DB. Single copies: £5. Six-issue subscription (plus five free CDs): £28.70. Cheques/Postal Orders payable to Rock’n’Reel.
Europe and Rest of the World: rates detailed on-line.
